As I walked home from school the other day, I heard footsteps behind me…
At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it but as I got closer, I began worrying. I knew I shouldn’t have hacked into the security’s office computers to play a prank on them, but alas, I couldn’t resist.
I took a quick glance over my shoulder and, sure enough, there was one of their goons following me. How could I tell? That dark helmet without any markings gave it away.
The security office wanted to appear as ‘people protectors’ to the masses. But all those who didn’t like being watched 24/7, like me, knew better.
I took a turn into a narrow alley between the tall, grey buildings and, as soon as I got out of the security cameras’ field of view, I dashed down the alley while trying to activate the grappling hook attached to my awesome cybernetic arm. As long as I got to the rooftop, I’d be safe.
After a couple of tries, the mechanism started whirring. Just in time too, as I say the helmeted figure aim their blaster. ‘Peacekeeping force’, indeed.
The small hook shot upwards and I was airborne, safely sitting on the roof moments later. Such a pity I had missed the sunset.
